What should i do about this issue ?

I recently installed the latest video driver for my nvidia 7600 gt and after the reboot, thick white lines appeared on the screen and after about 30 sec the monitor shut down. The screen refresh was changed to 85Hz, but when i tried to enter vga mode to change the refresh rate back to 60Hz, the screen had the same problem. I uninstalled the driver in safe mode and the problem was gone, but i cant play any games and scrolling is choppy and tiresome for the eyes.
